Liquidation Scam

Liquidation Scam

A liquidation scam is a deceptive scheme where fraudsters set up professional-looking websites claiming to sell bulk shop returns, overstock, or clearance pallets at heavily discounted prices. These sites often mimic legitimate liquidation companies, offering branded goods, electronics, or clothing with the promise of quick profits for resellers. Victims are lured in by flashy deals, fake testimonials, and urgent stock alerts designed to pressure them into paying quickly.

Once payment is made—usually through untraceable methods like wire transfers, crypto, or prepaid cards—buyers either receive nothing at all or boxes filled with worthless, low-quality items instead of the advertised goods. Customer service is often unresponsive, and websites vanish within weeks, reappearing under new names and domains to trap more unsuspecting buyers.

Liquidation scams exploit people looking for side businesses or bargain deals. To stay safe, always verify the company’s history, check reviews from trusted sources, and avoid platforms that refuse secure payment methods. Real liquidation companies provide verifiable addresses, working customer service, and transparent terms. If a deal looks too good to be true, it usually is. Awareness is the best protection against falling victim to these sophisticated online frauds.
